About our outdoor course

Many of you asked last night after class and during the break about our outdoor courses. We offer many but for the beginner we do recommend our In Focus I: Mastering the Mechanics. It's five two hour sessions and we only take 12 people. It's all hands-on and covers much, much more than your current in-door class.  Below you'll find a brief description of the class, an introduction booklet and video. We hope to see you all in the field.

IN FOCUS I: MASTERING THE MECHANICS

We are all unique and your images can show that. Join award-winning fine-art photographers  Rod and Robin Deutschmann on a journey through the joys and excitement of true manual control. Isn’t it time you took charge of your camera ... instead of the other way around?

Through five sessions of closely-supervised, hands-on field work, students traverse the often misunderstood world of basic photography, and quickly master the mechanics that control every image. Isolation techniques; aperture, focus and exposure control; white balance choices; slow shutters; and internal contrast/saturation options are only a portion of what students learn.

Participants are also be introduced to some basic design techniques, such as perspective control; and will uncover the secrets of depth-of-field. Each week the class practices new and more challenging manual techniques and as each student's experience builds, so does his/her confidence. In Focus I: Mastering the Mechanics offers its participants the strength and determination to wrestle back control of their camera from its auto settings and create not just beautiful images but clear, concise visual messages as well.

NOTE: This is the course for anyone looking for a place to start. A new In Focus One starts Feb. 6. You can read about it and our other February courses in our schedule.
